Boulevard Luncheon with KC Hopps
The Boulevard Luncheon series started about a year ago and I finally made my way over for the April luncheon. This month's local restaurant was KC Hopps, owner of Barley's, 75th Street and Odouwd's. This series is all about pairing KC's hometown beer with local eateries to showcase the best of Kansas City. Plus, it's held in the Muhlbach suite at the brewery which has one of the coolest views of downtown.

The lunch started with a tour of the brewery. We saw the new barrel aging room which was current home to some Sixth Glass.

We sampled the newest addition of the Boulevard lineup - an Amber.

We toured the rest of the brewery including the bottling line. I've taken the brewery tour half a dozen times and this was the first time I saw the bottling line in action.

Then we headed to the suite for lunch. The first course was cured salmon with sour cream and radishes and cucumbers on the side. This was paired with GABF gold medal winning Zon. Not only did this taste like a great start to our lunch, it tasted like a start to summer. It was crisp and refreshing and light.

The main course was rack of lamb. This was honestly the first time I had ever had lamb and I really liked it. It was tender and juicy and the reduction sauce was fantastic. It was cooked well done, and I wish it was a little more rare, just so I could try it that way.

Dessert was a rhubarb tart with chocolate. The beer pairing was the Smokestack Dark Truth. I also had never had rhubarb before, and I really liked it.

Overall, it was a great time at the Brewery with some really good food.
