My Summer Garden
I’ve never had a real desire to have a garden before. I don't really have a green thumb and I have horrible memoires of my mother making me help her weed her garden behind the house. Though, I do remember really enjoying the outcome. However, as I have adventured into cooking with more flavors, having fresh herbs sounded really useful. So I’ve started small. I bought a cilantro plant and a basil plant and put them on the patio.
I’ve already gotten to use my new plants to use in a couple of recipes. I used the cilantro in some homemade salsa and the basil topped off some chicken pasta we had. I think the freshness of the herbs really adds something to the dish. Plus it’s cheaper, and I don’t waste anything. I only pick what I need.
Needless to say, I’ve loved having these plants started to dream a little bigger. I now am craving fresh rosemary, tomatoes, onions and parsley. But, let’s see if I can keep these alive all summer first.
