2010 in a Blogshell

Olive Husky Puppy

Is it fair that I can write a year in review blog even though I only blogged maybe four times this year? Can I sum up everything I failed to blog about in a few paragraphs? The answer is probably no to both those questions but doesn’t mean I won’t try. I started this blog almost two years ago with the intention of recording moments and adventures so I wouldn’t forget them but I forgot to blog. Nevertheless, 2010 was full of moments and events that I won’t soon forget. So if it’s not too late, I present, 2010 in a blogshell.

In February, Corey and I moved into our first house! We bought a four bedroom house in the suburbs of Kansas City and immediately started painting and decorating. We still have a few empty rooms, but I love having a home, a garage, a back deck and heated floors in the bathroom!

In April, we adopted a puppy! We found our husky mix at the shelter, renamed her Olive and taught her a few tricks. She can high-five in case you ever need to high-five a husky. She is full of energy and 72 pounds, so she can be a handful at times, but she does such a good job of keeping my feet warm at night, I think everything will work out just fine.

I made my first trip to Vegas in 2010 as well. Corey actually won the trip at his company holiday party and we decided to go in May. We stayed at the MGM Grand, and instead of spending all out money on gambling, we spent all our money eating and drinking VERY well. The hotel was beautiful, our room over looked the strip and we enjoyed exploring the city. The highlight had to be dining at the Eifel Tower restaurant at the top of the Paris hotel. We got a table by the window and we watched the sunset over the strip and the Bellagio fountains do their nightly display. Not to mention we indulged in the six course tasting menu and a few glasses of wine. That is Vegas I could get used to!

The highlight of the year came in July, when Corey and I got engaged! He proposed on my birthday by the JC Nicholas fountain on the plaza. I was completely surprised. We celebrated that night with dinner out and are planning a wedding for September 2011. The photo below is from our engagement session with Ryan McElwain of R. Patrick Images. Though it’s hard to follow news, I will continue with my year in review. In August I got a new job and a new car. I now work on the plaza, which is great for lunches out, but driving here in the morning isn’t that fun. Though I am driving my CX7. I could (and probably will) devote an entire blog to my love for my Mazda, but I’ll suffice it to say it suits my needs perfectly....and it's red. I named her Ruby.

My youngest brother got engaged in Novemeber and my sister was married in a beatuful and quite fun wedding in December. For me it's weird that my littlest siblings are old enough to do these types of things but I'm quite thrilled for both of them.

Which really brings me to the point of these musings. 2010 was a fantastic year with lots of exciting changes but I'm really looking forward to what these changes bring in the future. A wedding, a honeymoon, more trips and adventures and many more nights in with Corey and Olive. Here's to a fantastic 2011!
