2011 Resolutions

2011

So, back over a month ago, I wrote down my new year's resolutions. Just a few quick notes of things I thought were important to acomplish in the new year. Things that would make me a better person in one way or another. And really, nothing too tricky. In that short month, I've already done a pretty poor job at sticking to them. So my hope is by posting them I will feel an "obligation to to blog" to adhere to them. So here are a few goals I really would like to achieve this year. I'll check back in in 11 months.

1) Blog at least once a week. This is a steep goal considering in blogged less than once a quarter in 2010. But in all honesty, my blog has no real audience so I don’t need to try to cater to anyone but myself. I want to write restaurant reviews, wine reviews, blogs about my cooking trials and maybe wedding planning.

2) Cook a from-scratch meal once a week. This will most likely happen on Sundays. I actually started to do this in 2010, attempting to cook one recipe from my America’s Test Kitchen Cookbook every Sunday, but the holidays got in the way and I got a little lazy some days. I love to cook for hours so this should be a little easier to accomplish than others.

3) Eat healthier. One of the biggest perks of the new job – lunch is catered twice a week. This is also a detriment to my hips. I need to make smart choices at work, out to eat and at home. Bonus points if I lose weight.

4) Enjoy your wedding. I think I am the opposite of most girls. I’m having a hard time getting excited for my wedding. Not that I’m not looking forward to it, but I always find a way to get anxious about something. This is pretty common for me. I have a very hard time being “in the moment.” I hope I can sit back, relax and take in what an important day that is for me (and Corey).

5) Try some new restaurants. I often try to talk Corey out of eating out because I hate spending money, but whenever we do make it out, it’s such quality time for us and we enjoy it so much it’s worth every penny. I want to try the best KC has to offer. Suggestions accepted.

6) Try new wines. Given how much Corey enjoys trying the newest and best beers (check out his blog at bythepint.com), I really find it odd that I don’t do the same with wine. I usually just buy what I know I like or what is cheap. I want to try some explore the world of wine more because there’s no better way to learn.
