Pinterest Creation #1
For the past few weeks I've been addicted to Pinterest.com, like some many other people. I love sitting and dreaming about what I can do for my home, in particular. Though, this morning, I got up with enthusiasm to actually do something. My problem is that a lot of projects take a lot of money. So, I took a trip to Michael's, with my pin boards memorized, and saw what I could afford to do.
Large letters were on clearance for $1.50, so I picked up a W, for my new last name. I had planned on creating something for the front door, when I remembered this project using wine corks. I have tons of wine corks saved over years, so I thought this project was worth attempting. I gathered the hot glue gun, all my corks and sat down to plan this out.
First, I laid out the corks on the letter, planning where each cork should go. The example shows using the "plain" side of the cork, but I liked the look of the end that was stained red. Though despite my hundreds of corks, I didn't have enough to cover the entire letter in stained corks. Guess, I should drink more wine.
After the letter was covered in corks, I went about the slow process of hot-glueing each letter into it's place. I did some adjustments about where I placed the stained corks.
Olive helped as she could.
And eventually, each cork was secured. Though there is still some of letter that isn't covered in cork, I think the final project looks great. Now, just where to put it...
